As much as I love the city life, I often crave green space instead of cement. The extensive Fairmount Park trails are the perfect escape. The park has over 215 miles of trail that start in downtown Philadelphia and span through the northern suburbs. We decided to start near the Valley Green Inn in Wissahickon. This part of the trail is both secluded and historical. The main trail, called Forbidden Drive, runs along the river and boasts beautiful views of historical buildings and bridges.
Just across the river from Forbidden Drive are more secluded and difficult trails. This was the perfect way to spend a spring Saturday away from the hustle and bustle of downtown.
